          Terry George, an Irish screenwriter and director, was born on December 20, 1952, in Belfast, Ireland.

          5. As a teenager, George was arrested in 1971 on suspicion of involvement with the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA), a terrorist organization. He was a member of the Irish Republican Socialist Party and was sentenced to six years in prison.

          However, in 1978, George was released early for good behavior.

          Moving to the United States and Early Career

          In 1981, George relocated to New York. Four years later, he made his debut on the American stage as a playwright with "The Tunnel," a drama based on his experiences in a Belfast prison.

          It was during this
