Sion Sono (園 子温, Sono Shion, born December 18, 1961) is a Japanese filmmaker, author, and poet.
Best known on the festival circuit for the film Love Exposure (2008), he has been called "the most subversive filmmaker working in Japanese cinema today",[1] a "stakhanovist filmmaker"[2][3] with an "idiosyncratic" career.[4]
Early life
Sion Sono was born in Aichi Prefecture in 1961.
As he mentioned in many interviews, at the age of 17 he ran away from home and wandered the streets on the verge of starvation.[5][6&
